Arsenal open contract talks with key starter

Declan Rice could soon become one of the highest-paid players at Arsenal F.C. as the club has started discussions over a potential new long-term contract.
According to reports from BBC journalist Sami Mokbel, Arsenal have already reached out to Rice’s representatives to explore the possibility of extending and improving his current deal.

The proposed agreement would include a salary increase that places the England international among the club’s top earners.

Early Stages of Negotiations

At the moment, conversations between both sides are still in the preliminary phase. There is no specific timeline for when a final agreement might be reached, as the discussions have only recently begun.

Rice is currently under contract with Arsenal until 2028, and the club also holds the option to extend the deal by an additional year until 2029. Because of this, there is no immediate pressure to finalize a renewal, but Arsenal are keen to secure the long-term future of one of their most influential players.

A Key Figure in Mikel Arteta’s Team

Since joining Arsenal, Rice has become a central figure in the system built by manager Mikel Arteta. His performances in midfield have made him a crucial part of the team’s structure both defensively and offensively.

During the current season, the 27-year-old has delivered strong numbers from midfield, contributing four goals and eleven assists in 41 appearances across competitions. Beyond his attacking contributions, Rice is also known for his defensive work rate, often dropping deep to support the back line and break up opposition attacks.

Arsenal Keen to Secure Long-Term Stability
Although Rice still has several years remaining on his existing contract, Arsenal’s decision to begin renewal talks reflects the club’s desire to reward consistent performances and maintain stability in the squad.
If negotiations progress positively, fans of Arsenal will likely welcome the move, as it signals the club’s commitment to keeping one of their most important players at the heart of the project for years to come.
