Silva Sends a Clear Message to Arsenal
Bernardo Silva has delivered a bold warning to Arsenal after Manchester City refused to bow out of the Premier League title race with a dramatic victory at Anfield.
The City captain played a key role in Pep Guardiola’s side keeping their championship hopes alive, making it clear that Arsenal’s lead at the top of the table offers no guarantees.
Manchester City Strike Back at Anfield
Manchester City were forced to respond after Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring with a sensational long-range free-kick that left Gianluigi Donnarumma with no chance.
Silva levelled the score with a composed finish, dragging City back into the contest before Erling Haaland completed the turnaround late in stoppage time, calmly beating Alisson from the penalty spot.
“We Had to Win – No Excuses,” Says Silva
Speaking after the match, Silva admitted City knew defeat would have all but ended their title challenge.
“We all knew before the game that if we lost, the title race would probably be over,” the Portugal international said.
“We felt we had to win. The hope is still there, and we are going to fight until the very end.”
Arsenal Put Under Pressure as City Refuse to Quit
Despite Arsenal holding a six-point advantage ahead of their clash with Brentford at the G-Tech Community Stadium, Silva insists City are far from finished.
“This is the hardest place to come in the Premier League,” he added.
“Even after I scored, one goal wasn’t enough. We pushed for more, and Erling delivered.”
Silva also admitted City’s inconsistent start to the year has made the title race harder than it should have been.
“It’s been frustrating because we haven’t done our job properly,” he said.
“We could be much closer to Arsenal by now.”
Guardiola Hails Silva as City’s Leader
Pep Guardiola was quick to praise his captain following the victory, highlighting Silva’s influence on and off the pitch.
“In the end, we were guided by an incredible player,” Guardiola said.
“One of the best players I have ever coached — our captain, Bernardo.”
Title Race Heats Up
With momentum shifting and belief growing inside the Manchester City camp, one thing is clear: Arsenal’s title hopes are facing serious pressure as the champions signal they are ready to fight until the final whistle.
