Arsenal will ‘demand’ €110m for Brazilian star as Real Madrid plan to ‘knock on door’

Real Madrid are actively exploring options to strengthen their defensive line and have identified Gabriel Magalhães of Arsenal as a prime transfer target ahead of the summer window.

With uncertainty surrounding the futures of Antonio Rüdiger and David Alaba—both nearing the end of their contracts—the Spanish giants are planning a defensive rebuild. While reports suggest Rüdiger could sign a short-term extension, Alaba is widely expected to depart as a free agent, reports alldaysport.net

Despite the arrival of Dean Huijsen in 2025 and the presence of Éder Militão, whose injury concerns persist, Madrid remain keen to add another reliable centre-back. Internal options like Raúl Asensio have yet to fully convince.

Reports indicate that Madrid previously made a quiet approach for Gabriel during the winter transfer window, which Arsenal rejected. However, their interest has not faded, and the Brazilian defender is now reportedly at the top of their shortlist as they look for a long-term leader in defense.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are determined to keep their key defender. The club views Gabriel as a cornerstone of their project, especially after he signed a contract extension in June 2025 that ties him to the club until 2029. Any potential deal would require a significant offer, with estimates placing his valuation between €100 million and €110 million.

Speaking after signing his new deal, Gabriel expressed his deep connection to the club:

“I arrived here as a young player and after almost five years I’m so happy and I’ve learned a lot.

“I’m so proud of myself, it’s an amazing journey, and I’m so happy to continue it.

“I hope I win some trophies with this club, because I love this club and my family loves the club, too.

“Arsenal is an amazing club and I’m so proud to sign a new contract.

“I love this club, I love the supporters, my teammates, I love this stadium. I’m so proud and thank you for all the support. We continue together for the future.”

As the summer transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will formalize their interest with a concrete offer or if Arsenal will successfully fend off advances for one of their most important players./ALLDAYSPORT/
