Arsenal have stepped up their pursuit of highly-rated Leicester City youngster Jeremy Monga, submitting an offer worth £5 million for the teenage forward.
According to reports, Leicester are holding out for a larger package, demanding £10 million plus a 15% sell-on clause before agreeing to part ways with one of their brightest prospects. The Foxes were initially believed to value Monga at around £15 million, but negotiations between the two clubs remain ongoing.
The 15-year-old talent has attracted significant interest across the Premier League, with Manchester City and Chelsea also monitoring his situation closely. However, Arsenal are currently considered the frontrunners in the race for his signature.
Monga is understood to have already agreed personal terms with the North London club, leaving the transfer fee as the main obstacle preventing the deal from being completed.
Should Arsenal and Leicester fail to reach an agreement, the transfer could ultimately be settled by an independent tribunal. While the Gunners would prefer to finalize the move through direct negotiations, a tribunal decision may potentially work in their favor.
A similar situation occurred in 2021 when Crystal Palace were ordered to pay West Bromwich Albion £900,000 in compensation for defender Nathan Ferguson, significantly less than the £8 million fee previously discussed between the clubs.
With further talks expected in the coming days, Arsenal remain optimistic about securing one of England’s most exciting young prospects as they continue to invest in future talent.
